Black Stars Technical Team Escape Serious Accident

The Ghanaian football fraternity was shaken this morning after news broke of a near-tragedy involving some members of the technical team of the Black Stars.

Head coach Otto Addo, assistant coach John Paintsil, and goalkeeper trainer Fatawu Dauda were travelling back to Accra from a match when their vehicle experienced a mechanical failure.

The coaches were in Tarkwa to watch the Champion of Champions final between FC Samartex 1996 and Nsoatreman FC at the TnA Stadium.

The team's Land Cruiser, with registration number GR 6521-21, was reportedly on the Tarkwa-Takoradi road when the back wheels detached.

This could have resulted in a catastrophic situation, but according to eyewitnesses, the driver's quick reflexes saved the day.

A swerving pickup truck coming from the opposite lane forced the driver to take evasive action, narrowly avoiding a head-on collision.

Thankfully, all occupants of the Land Cruiser escaped serious injuries.

However, as a precautionary measure, they were taken to a hospital in Takoradi for further check-ups before continuing their journey to Accra.

This incident comes at a crucial time for the Black Stars, with their training camp for the upcoming 2025 AFCON qualifier against Angola set to begin tomorrow in Accra.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has yet to release an official statement regarding the accident.

However, the focus remains on ensuring the safety and well-being of the coaching staff as they prepare for the upcoming qualifiers.
