Social media users have quizzed Joyce Bawah Mogtari, a spokesperson for the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), about what exactly the policies of John Dramani Mahama are in the lead-up to the 7 December 2024 general election.
Bawah Mogtari, in a post on her X handle, @joyce bawah, first took on the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia, for what she described as a complete lack of a message and credibility on his part.
“Dearest Comrades! The NPP has absolutely no message. Bawumia has no message and no credibility, and we also know that the two-region agenda has failed. So, we in the NDC have to be steady and alert,” she wrote.
“We have to be vigilant on D-day, stay alert and wide awake until the last ballot is counted. We must dismantle the NPP’s rigging agenda and save Ghana. Insha Allah, victory beckons! Vote wisely,” Bawah Mogtari posted.

In response to this post, a social media user called Mr Irish, writing on his X handle (@Mrirish3), demanded that Ms Bawah Mogtari state the policies that her cousin (John Dramani Mahama) intends to implement, should he win power, because, said Irish, he is clear about the policies of Dr Bawumia but cannot say the same about Mr Mahama.
“What’s your message? I want to vote for Mahama, but before that, tell us what you intend to do when voted for. At least I know of Bawumia’s flat rate tax, buy Ghana first, training one million youth in digital skills, free tertiary for PWDs [people with disabilities], free tertiary for cocoa farmers’ children, and many others.
“What’s your cousin bringing on board?” Mr Irish asked.
To answer Irish’s questions, Bawah Mogtari replied, “You have certainly not heard about the #24HourEconomy, Cancel E-Levy, Cancel betting tax, Cancel COVID levy, Investigate all looted state assets and funds, Cut down the size of government and reckless spending, Complete all abandoned projects, etc.”
In his response to the answers provided by Bawah Mogtari, Irish pointed out that what she was talking about are not policies, but planned cancellations of existing policies.
“What I see here is about cancelling this and that. I asked, ‘What new thing are you bringing on board? Again, why should Ghanaians trust you to complete the ongoing projects started by this administration?’ When it’s on record that you abandoned projects started by President Kufuor such as the eight hospitals under the Euroget project,” Mr Irish said.
“Again, your party has a track record of ‘loot share’ – as seen in the case of the MASLOC woman. Don’t you think Ghanaians have more confidence in this government to address these issues than your party? What can you do differently to address it this time around?” he further quizzed.
