The Electoral Commission of Ghana has announced that a total of 18, 772,795 valid voters are expected to participate in the upcoming December 7 presidential and Parliamentary elections across the country.
According to the statistics revealed by the EC, 9,690,173 of the registered voters are females, while 9,082,622 are males.
The data also revealed that 708,282 new voters have been added to the electoral roll ahead of the December 7 elections.
Additionally, there are 332,110 transferred voters, 2,167 proxy voters, 32,974 applicants on the exceptions list, and 26,798 applicants on the multiples list.
EC Chairperson, Madam Jean Mensa, during an engagement with all political parties at the Alisa Hotel on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, amongst many issues, announced that, her office has rectified all anomalies detected during the exhibition of the Provisional Voter Register in August, 2024.
She further highlighted the position of the Commission, stating that, the call for a forensic audit of the register is rather premature considering the fact that the Commission has a constitutional mandate to exhaust all provisions made for auditing of the register, which includes the exhibition exercise conducted by the Commission.
