Kabila Applauds Bawumia/NAPO Ticket Ahead of December 7

Social Commentator and former General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Dr. Kwabena Bomfeh, popularly known as Kabila, has lauded the partnership of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempehn, popularly known as NAPO, as the running mate, describing the duo as an enigma of Ghana’s politics.

According to Dr. Kwabena Bomfeh, the duo are about making history as far as Ghana’s rich political history is concerned.

Speaking on Peace FM’s 'Kokrokoo' morning show on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, Kabila said that, Bawumia/NAPO combination is a winnable ticket.

According to him, the ticket of the duo is enigma in Ghana’s politics.

“I can tell you that, the Bawumia/NAPO ticket is a winnable ticket. It is an enigma ticket in the history of our politics," he said.

He explained that, Ghana has had vice presidents under the fourth republic who have become Presidents. However, they all came from one particular side, the NDC. He cited the late Professor John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills, who was a vice president to the then President, the late Jerry John Rawlings. He added that, the former President who is the current flag bearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama, was also a vice president to the late President John Evans Atta Mills.

“For the first time in the history of the UP tradition where former President Mahama’s stated that he doesn’t believe that the NPP will ever allow anyone from the Northern descent will be allowed to be flag bearer and by extension, a President. Mahama has been proven wrong by the selection of Dr. Bawumia,” he said.

"This is the first time that an Asante is going on the ticket of any party in this country’s history under this fourth republic as running mate,” he added.

Dr. Kwabena Bomfeh advised the NPP’s running mate to sieve his words before saying in order not to mar his political records especially during a highly volatile political season.
